About

My story is a little different from others I have heard where people unfortunately had to almost hit rock bottom before deciding to be responsible with money.  My story is quite the opposite.

Growing up, my family and I lived a modest life. We did not have all the name brand stuff or live a in huge decked out house, but we did take a great vacation every year, participated in several after school activities, we went out for breakfast after church every Sunday and really just never got caught up in wanting what we could not have or did not need.

My sister and I were given an allowance every two weeks and that taught us how to budget wisely and respect money. We always had a savings account and were authorized signers on our mom’s credit card, but we were responsible and were taught to only use the savings account or credit card in emergency situations.

I am truly grateful to my parents for instilling such great money saving values at an early age. Values that have followed me to my adult life and really went into over-drive when I got married and had children.

For me, budgeting is a way of life. I am always looking for a sale and when I find a good one, it literally makes my day!! I have never been ashamed to buy used or tell people “Sorry, I cannot afford it”.

I decided to start this blog because I am always verbally telling people about my tactics towards saving money on monthly bills, grocery shopping, and entertainment and because I am astonished when I hear how much more others are spending for the same things. So, I figured what the heck. I put my fear of starting something new in check and launched the site.

My goal with this site is not to provide personal financial advice, but to share all the money saving tips I have learned over the past years with whoever will read my posts.
